Measurement of the Weak Mixing Angle
In the Tools menu, click Data Analysis and select
Histogram.
If Data Analysis is not available under the Tools
menu, you will need to add it: in the Tools menu, click Add-Ins
and select Analysis ToolPak.
After selecting the Histogram option, you will then need to specify:
- Input range: for the input range, select the data you
want to histogram (for example, the column of data containing the
LENGTH of each event).
- Output range: the output range is just the location
where you want the histogram to be plotted - so for this, select
some blank unused region of your worksheet (if the resultant plot
is too small, you can always make it larger by clicking on the plot
and dragging it).
- Bin range: the bin range refers to the selected binning
of your histogram (x axis). Excel will select a bin range for you if
you don't specify one. You can choose a bin range if you don't like
the bins Excel selects in plotting your distribution. For example,
if you want the LENGTH to be plotted in integer bins from 1 to 84
(since the LENGTH of an event can be any integer number from 1 counter
to 84 counters; 84 counters being the length of the calorimeter),
you can create a column of integer values ranging from 1 to 84 and
specify that column of values as your bin range.
Also, if you want Excel to actually show you the plot rather than just
give you a table listing the histogram values, you also need to select
Chart Output at the bottom of the histogram plotting window.
